As a singer she takes no prisoners, as a presenter she speaks plainly - and this also applies to her work with the brush. Solid, monochrome surfaces, framed by hard outlines define her comic-like archetypal figures. Mostly they are female nudes. The bodies are fat, thin, tall, short, old, young, and always endowed with a magic all their own, a beauty unique in the literal sense of the word, which the viewer cannot escape.   In her painterly articulation, Evelyn Weigert leaves out much - and thus reveals all the more unadorned, blunt and refreshingly undifferentiated. Her self-confident, powerfully provocative minimalism is precise, fearless, and last but not least, insanely funny. The result: outrageously concrete images. Painted entertainment.
